Would you like to know more about different career opportunities in life sciences? During one of the sessions of NBC-19, young NBV organises an interactive career workshop that will tell you all about it. We would like to introduce our speakers to you:

After obtaining his PhD in Molecular Plant Genetics in 1991 at VU Amsterdam, Arjen van Tunen started working at Plant Research International in Wageningen as a group leader, to investigate and genetically improve flower development in crops. In 1998 he became director R&D in the same institute. In 2000 he became director and part time professor Plant Biochemistry at the Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences from the UvA. He was appointed as CEO of KeyGene, a crop innovation and R&D company with its headquarter in Wageningen in 2004.

Jerre Edens obtained his MSc in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen in 2017. He subsequently started his career by working in a veterinarian laboratory as an all-round analyst for 6 months, after which he decided to become a patent attorney. He currently works as trainee patent attorney at Arnold&Siedsma patents and trademarks.

Frank Sekeris studied Biology and Science Communication at Utrecht University. After his study he started working for Delft University of Technology for a high school student competition. He joined the NBV board in 2016. Frank currently works for the Royal Netherlands Chemical Society (KNCV) as a programme coordinator and is also involved as management assistent in the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements (IYPT2019).

Frank is replacing Caroline Villa, who unfortunately had to cancel last minute due to illness.

We have only limited places available, so please subscribe by sending an e-mail to as soon as possible, but at the latest before the 10th of May.
